Put rice into your rice cooker’s pot and clean the rice. If you’re not familiar with how to clean rice, it just means that you run it under water a couple of times and pick out the dark grains, pebbles, etc.
To do this:
Fill pot with water and press rice with your hands.
Pick out anything that’s not a rice grain.
Pour out water, being careful not to lose any of the rice.
Repeat a few times until water pours out clear.
Cooking Rice -
Add water to the pot until the water sits just above the rice. You should be able to still see the rice but not too much. If you put too much water it will come out mushy.
Sprinkle salt to your liking.
Cover the rice pot with top.
The flame should be at medium fire.
Let the rice cook until water disappears.
Once the water has evaporated move the rice around with a spoon several times.
Cover the rice one more time and lower the flame.
Let it continue cooking.
Once the rice is done turn off the flame and let the rice sit for a few minutes before serving.
In a sauce-pan add a teaspoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Let it simmer with a medium flame.
Dice up ⅓ of green peppers and white onions.
Place in a pan and allow it to simmer a bit.
Poor the can of black beans into the pan.
Using the same can fill it with water halfway.
Dump the water into the beans and mix.
Open the jar of olives and pour a few olives in the bean mix and a little bit of the olive juice just a dash.
Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, and oregano. Mix it all together on medium fire. You can cover the beans if you like. Make sure to taste the beans to your liking.
Cook for about 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
Once they are done they should feel thick not watery.
Turn off the flame and let them sit till ready to serve
Grab your favorite plate and pour a handful of rice topping it with the beans and a delicious piece of avocado!
