People this is my favorite food in — the — world. DO NOT wait until Thanksgiving to make. It’s a Quarantine Miracle.
Samia “Sittoo” Massery-Najimy’s World Famous freaking Delicious Lebanese Stuffing!
Serves about 10-12
Ingredients:
1 loaf of day old sourdough bread
1 box Mrs. Cubisons bread crumbs (she was adamant about this!)
1-2 T. Poultry Seasoning
1 lb. Italian mild sausage (or, we do it with Veggie sausage whole foods)
1 large onion diced
1 bunch celery (with leaves) - diced
1 lb. fresh white mushrooms (sliced or pieces)
½ lb. slivered almonds
1 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
¼ lb. real butter
2 ½ cups milk
salt and pepper
Preparation:
The Night Before- Cut bread into cubes, add boxed bead crumbs- sprinkle with poultry seasoning/salt and pepper and set aside over night
Directions:
In large pot saute sausage, drain excess fat, add onions - saute til clear.
Add celery almonds and mushrooms - sauté until almost cooked.
Add broth salt and pepper and mix well- cook few more minutes. Add seasoned bread mix WELL.
Put in Corning pot (or any oven cooking pot) no lid necessary or hell, lid it if you'd like.
Top with butter pats (maybe 8 pats?).
Bake til hot (about 20 minutes). Taste to make sure doesn't get dry.
Eat the heck out of it and send me such a thank you basket and a "heigh ho!" to Sitto Samia in heaven-- the best cook in the universe.
Enjoy.
